Often overlooked, the automotive battery is an essential component. The electrical requirements of modern vehicles place an ever-increasing demand on the performance of the battery. The battery is also a central component to Stop/start and energy management systems. This course is designed for motor vehicle professionals who maintain and repair electrical systems within automotive vehicles. This course will give technicians the knowledge and skills to be able to work on modern batteries, as well as understanding the function of energy management systems, modern stop/start and micro hybrid systems. This course contains information for carrying out diagnosis, repair and replacement of energy management and stop/start systems and associated components whilst working safely.
Course Content
- Development of automotive batteries
- Battery types (lead-acid, NiMH, Li-Ion, LFP, Supercapacitor)
- Smart energy management
- Stop/start components and operation
- Micro hybrid topology (12V, 24V and 48V)
Prerequisites
There are no official prerequisites, however due to the high technical nature of this course we would advise some considerable prior learning and preferably completion of the Bosch Diagnostic Technician programme. Practical tasks will require competent use of multimeters and oscilloscopes.
Attainment
On successful completion of VSE55, delegates will have the knowledge and ability to be able to diagnose and rectify network protocol faults
