Essential ABS/ESP Knowledge

If you want to understand how modern vehicle braking (ABS) & dynamic stability systems (ESP) work this course is the place to start.

This course has been designed to give you the understanding & confidence to diagnose and test all the different ABS/ESP systems found on today’s vehicles.

Having a good understanding & confidence in this field is very important for any technician in today’s workshop due to the complex-ability and integration of these systems within the current vehicle lineup.

Course Content

• A brief history of ABS development
• How the different systems workM/li>
• How to identify the different systems
• How to test the various components found on today’s vehicles

There is ample practical work within this course to reinforce the classroom learning, including expert help from experienced technicians.

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for this training event however having attended the Essential Electrical Knowledge course plus the Oscilloscope course would be an advantage.

Course Outcomes

Upon completion you will be able to:

• Have a better understanding of ABS & ESP systems
• Understand which components are critical for system operation
• Test the different sensor types
• Identify common faults within the system
• Understand the term “missing message” as a DTC within an ECU
• Interrogate and calibrate the system using a scan tool

You will know how to approach an ABS/ESP fault with more confidence and carry out the correct tests, using the correct equipment in the correct order, to provide a fix in the shortest timeframe.
