Essential Diesel Engine Management Knowledge

If you want to understand how modern diesel engine works this course is the place to start.

This course has been designed to give you the understanding & confidence to diagnose and test diesel engine management systems found in today’s vehicles.

Having a good understanding & confidence in this field is very important for any technician today due to the high volume of these vehicles currently on our roads and in our workshops.

Course Content

• The fundamentals of diesel engines
• How the engine management system works
• An introduction into diesel emission systems (EGR)
• An overview of all the sensors & actuators

There is ample practical work within this course to reinforce the classroom learning, including expert help from experienced technicians.

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for this training event however having attended the Essential Electrical Knowledge course plus the Scope course would be an advantage.

Course Outcomes

Upon completion you will be able to:

• Identify diesel engine management components
• Test all diesel engine management sensors & actuators
• Have a better understanding of diesel emission control systems
• Understand the fundamentals of diesel management systems
• Use a scan tool to as part of your diagnostic process
• Know how to read and use wiring diagrams to help pinpoint faults

You will know how to approach a diesel engine management fault with more confidence and carry out the correct tests, using the correct equipment in the correct order, to provide a fix in the shortest timeframe.
