Overview

IMI Level 2 Award in MOT Testing (Class 4&7) – Training :MOT1

The objective of this course is to develop and hone a technicians existing skills and knowledge and so enabling them to carry out the statuary vehicle inspection as laid down by the secretary of state for transport. It will include both the theory and practical sides of vehicle testing, plus associated material, referencing the MOT testers manual whenever necessary.

Course Content

Assessment MOTA1: MOT Tester Training (Class 4 & 7, will occur either the Friday of the same week or Monday or Tuesday of the following week at the same venue as the course – you will be booked onto the next available place. The cost for the assessment is included in the course fee.

The training course will include the following subject areas:

  • Working safely within a vehicle test station
  • Communicating with colleagues and customers
  • Managing and maintaining your CPD
  • Carrying out vehicle pre-MOT checks
  • Carrying out an MOT test

    Prerequisites
    The pre-conditions for attending this course are the following:

  • A full and current driving licence for the classes you want to test
  • To be a skilled technician with at least 4 years full time employment within the service & repair sector in which you wish to test
  • To have NO unspent convictions for criminal offences connected with the MOT scheme or the motor trade, or involving acts of violence or intimidation
  • To be of “good repute”
  • To have an “appropriate” recognised qualification

    Attainment
    On completion of this course (and suitable practice time) candidates will be able to apply to their area office of DVSA and book a “Demo” test, upon successful completion of which a CoC will be issued by DVSA.
