IMI Level 3 Award in Automotive Refrigerant Handling (QCF)

All Technicians working on Vehicle Air Conditioning Systems must achieve a qualification which fulfils the EU F-Gas regulation EC517-2014 which replaces EC842-2006. Click here for F-Gas regulation guidance.


Assessment Guide

1. Refrigerant Cylinder Handling
The Candidate will develop ability, knowledge and use of Fluorinated Refrigerant and be required to show that they are able to transfer Refrigerant, from a R134a refillable storage container into an air conditioning recycling machine, giving due regard to Health & Safety and using appropriate Personal Protection Equipment (PPE).

2. Refrigerant Recycling
The Candidate will gain experience in the use of air conditioning recycling equipment, on a motor vehicle. The Candidate will also acquire a sound understanding of Refrigerant Handling Legislation, the necessity for use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and compliance with Health & Safety Law.

3. On-line IMI Assessment
There is a multiple choice questionnaire to complete within a set period of time.

4. General Guidance
Equipment is provided for the practical training assessment, except PPE. The Candidate is required to bring suitable Overalls, Footwear, Chemically Resistive Gloves and appropriate eye protection. (Suitable gloves and eye protection are available at a small additional charge).

Delegates are required to complete the IMI Registration Form and return to TEN Automotive Training prior to course attendance.
