IMI Levels 2/3 Awards in Heavy Electric Vehicle System Repair & Replacement
GAIN THE PRACTICAL SKILLS REQUIRED TO WORK ON HEAVY ELECTRIC/HYBRID VEHICLES INCLUDING BUS & COACH
The content of this qualification has been designed to give the learners the knowledge and skills required to work safely on Heavy Electric/Hybrid vehicles whilst carrying out diagnostic, testing and repair activities. This may include vehicles that may have or had damage to their high energy/electrical system.
Course Content
This qualification comprises of two mandatory units:
HEV2 – Prepare Heavy electric/Hybrid Vehicles for Repair
- Understand heavy electric/hybrid vehicle system components and operation
- Understand the hazards when working with heavy electric/hybrid vehicles
- Understand how to reduce the risks to themselves and others when carrying out work on and around heavy electric/hybrid vehicles
- Understand how make a heavy electric/ hybrid high energy electrical system “safe” prior to repairs
- Understand how to reinstate a heavy electric/hybrid vehicle high energy electrical system
- Be able to make “safe” and reinstate a heavy electric/hybrid vehicle
HEV3 – Heavy Electric/Hybrid Vehicle System Repair and Replacement
- Understand how to remove and replace high energy electrical system components
- Be able to work safely on a heavy electric/hybrid vehicle
- Be able to use information to carry out the task
- Be able to use appropriate tools and equipment
- Be able to remove and replace high energy electrical system components
- Be able to record information and make suitable recommendations
How is this course delivered?
This course is delivered on-site at customers own premises in groups of 4 delegates, reducing both travel time and cost of accommodation.
The requirements are that there is an area to sit and learn, with something to project images onto; a whited white wall would suffice!
Additionally, the provision of a suitable Heavy Electric/Hybrid vehicle to work and learn on.
The qualification allows for the use of alternative types of heavy or industrial vehicles where the vehicle drivetrain components are the same to a heavy vehicle, such as a Public Service Vehicle (PSV) exceeding 3500KG gross vehicle weight.
Who is this course for?
This course is suitable for anyone who are involved in the diagnosis and repair of Heavy Electric/Hybrid vehicles. This could include service and repair technicians, diagnostic technicians and auto electricians.
Entry requirements
Appropriate heavy vehicle maintenance and repair knowledge at level 3.
