SEG Level 3 Award in Automotive Refrigerant Handling

This qualification provides individuals working in an automotive repair and servicing environment with the required skills and knowledge to meet the European Union fluorinated greenhouse gas (F-Gas) regulations (EC842/2006 and Annex EC307/2008).

This course satisfies the minimum requirements for a Mobile Air Conditioning (MAC) technician to legally recover automotive refrigerant from light vehicles and car-derived vans.

It is important to note that this qualification does not meet the requirements of a technician working with Cargo Refrigerant.

This course is suitable for
• Would suit technician with any level of experience wanting to improve their knowledge and diagnostic skills for Air Conditioning systems

• Legislative and organisational requirements and procedures
• Selecting and using appropriate tools and equipment
• Operating principles, functions, and types of automotive mobile air conditioning (MAC) systems

Eligibility Criteria
• There are no specific pre-requisites to register on this course
• A basic knowledge of how automotive air conditioning systems and the regulations surrounding fluorinated greenhouse gas refrigerants would be advantageous

Assessment
• The assessment consists of a multiple-choice online test, with a total of 25 questions, and a time limit of 50 minutes
• The pass mark is 60%. 80% is a distinction
• There is also a practical element, which is simply pass/fail
