Overview
SEG Level 3 Vehicle Technician Accredited Assessment (VTAA)
The Vehicle Technician Accredited Assessment acts as an equivalent accreditation for motor vehicle technicians who wish to demonstrate Level 3 knowledge and practical competence, but who do not hold a formal Level 3 qualification (required for MOT courses).
Once this course is completed, successful candidates will fulfil the eligibility criteria for entry onto the Level 2 Award in MOT Testing, allowing them to qualify as a DVSA MOT Tester.
This course is suitable for:
• Technicians wishing to become an MOT Tester who are experienced but do not have a formal Level 3 Certificate

Eligibility Criteria
• The VTAA is an assessment of a motor vehicle technician’s knowledge and skills, so it is expected that technicians will have worked in their roles for three or more years to demonstrate capabilities at Level 3
• Evidence to demonstrate three years’ experience could be provided through items such as former technician declarations or CV’s. This list is not exhaustive
Assessment
• The assessment consists of 4 practical tasks per module
• In addition, there is an online test made up of 50 multiple choice questions covering all 4 modules
• In order to pass, candidates must score a minimum of 60% overall
